TMT Overweight & Importance of Negative Tolerance

Weight of TMT bars as per their length is the major factor of the price that the customer pays. The range defined in IS 1786:2008 is very wide and producing TMT at the higher side is expensive for the customer. We at Electrotherm by the state of the art manufacturing facilities manage to shrink that standard range to the minimum that is the industry best. By finishing the TMT bars at the lower side of standard weight defined in IS 1786:2008 the customer gets more lengths of TMT at same price.

Quality of ET TMT Bars

Weight per meter
We maintain lower weight per meter as per standard so customer gains more length at the same weight.

Lower Carbon content
In ET TMT Bars we maintain lower carbon levels within the standard for better weld ability and ductility.

Lower Sulphur and Phosphorus content
In ET TMT Bars we maintain lower suphur and phosphorus levels within the standard. Excess levels of Sulfur leads to “Hot Shortness” wherein the melting point of steel is lowered, leading to failure under extreme high temperature conditions. Excess levels of Phosphorus leads to “Cold Shortness” wherein the steel becomes brittle under extremely cold conditions and leads to cracking.

Lower strengthening Elements
We are producing TMT bars with lower strengthening elements by using maximum sponge iron which improves the ductility.

Importance of bundle weight

We are flexible to provide bundles of TMT bars ranging from 70 kg to 5 MT as per customer requirement. We also provide customized solutions to our customers at their site as and when required. Thus we fulfill all the customers’ requirements and also add value to their needs.
